5 Things To Get Out Of Your Life When You Start Working Freelance

We might all want to make fundamental changes in our business life and sometimes we have to. In fact, it is mostly our lifes we are changing, not our jobs. How? There are 168 hours in a week. And we are working in at least 50 hours out of those. If we change what is inside that 50 hours, we can live that week much more different. If we do this continiously, it will be our life that changes seriously.

When we make choices in our business life, we first think of our profits. We naturally want good things for ourselves. That’s why you wanted to make a change in your career. You finally start to work freelance! Are you avare of what you are quitting? Some things will not be as they were. Now fasten your seatbelts and begin to learn them :).

1. Say Goodbye To Your Boss And Meet Your New Bosses

Congratulations! You don’t have a boss anymore. So the boss that treats you bad, forces you to work more, pays your salary late, pinchpenny and from who you think managing the company bad doesn’t exist anymore. Well, who’s the new boss? You? No, no… The one who has the money is the boss, at least for now. So, it’s your customers :). Tidy up, you are going to meet your new bosses.

Your new bosses don’t cause you problems everyday. But the problems they create can bother you for days. The bright side is that if you have a healthy communication and a good contact, you can handle the situation and manage them.

You don’t see them everyday like your old boss. In fact it is very seldom that you meet face to face. So your everyday life will be less stressy and more calm. Sometimes it might be calmer than you wish because your customers don’t want to see you. Either they are very busy, either they are not interested on your cooperative project anymore. Maybe, they just don’t want to pay your money:). Your contracts, your patience and your kindness will help you.

2. Tomorrow Morning You Are Going To Walk To Your Dreams Instead Of The Office

You substracted the office where you can’t just lay down and sleep for a while from your life. Fine :). But I think you have a problem. Where are you going to work now? Your living room, your bedroom or your kitchen… No matter which one of them you choose, hurry up. You need a place where you can work efficiently without losing your concentration, make your arrangements.

You have left the army, you can’t enter the ammunition. You’re in a war but you don’t even have a knife with you. Gather the equipment you need for work right now. Try to choose portable objects as much as possible. Maybe that you will be at the beach you wanted to go for a long time tomorrow, who knows? You have sufficient time to do that, you just have to earn some money.

3. You Quitted Your Salary But Money Still Loves You

You don’t have a salary anymore. So you have to revise your financial state after that. Reconsider you expenses and needs before you stark working freelance, rearrange them. The business life is full of surprises. Maybe that you won’t earn any money in the month. Try to put some money aside. There should be at least the summ that will be enough for two months at your bank account. This money will help you to get rid of your fear of being unsuccessful. So you will work easier and focus better on your business.

Like I Told before, you won’t get a salary anymore. Besides, you wanted this. So, if you don’t work or leave it at half, you won’t have money. Excuses like “I was sick”, “I was not in the mood”, “I had personal things to care about” won’t work anymore. In your freelance life, you will loose money anytime you pronounce those excuses.

In the office, you focused just on the tasks. Now, your responsabilities will keep you alive. You will earn as much as you work. Your family, you rent, your dinner, your future… All of those are at risk at the beginning of your freelance career.

Don’t be affraid. You can earn more than your old salary by working freelance. Because all the money will enter in your pocket this time. Just love your job first. Work hard, regularly and with the right methods. The world is waiting for you to give money, go and get it :).

4. Your Collegues Are Allready Dead

The number of people in your entourage decreases and you stay alone when you start working freelance. You might feel like a baby grown up by the gorillas if you live alone. The reason of that solitude are your collegues. Yes my dear friend, as you noticed, working freelance may isolate you.

Or you might think that you are isolated. You still can meet your buddy or your platonic love from the office. The rest doesn’t matter, does it? Anyway, there were some collegues that you didn’t love at all…

Your new friends are the other people in the freelance sector. You can find them on blogs, forums, at Facebook, at Twitter or at Friendfeed or at sectorial activities. Our number is naturally less but we are stronger. Because we are happier! That’s why we can connect better with each other. Furthermore, you can cooperate or be partners with many of us.

5. No Team, No Team Motivation

Like Bruce Wills on Die Hard, this movie also has a single hero. You will generally work alone. The chief motivating you and the prizes increasing your motivation don’t exist anymore. There will always be hard times in our lives. If each difficulty brings you about to leave your work and cry in your pillows, you’re in trouble. You’ll loose too much time.

You’re lucky to have your brain, family, friends and therapist. Trust your brain first, have will and faith. Ask for help from your family and friends at hard times. If you’re not close to them, search for sources to read about your personal motivation and immediatly find a therapist. You don’t need to be ashamed. The ones who really need therapy are the ones who don’t go to a therapist…
